I realize that most of you may not have bear steaks sitting in your freezer. However, if someone offers you a package of bear you should definitely take it! Contrary to common belief of being tough or greasy, I found these black bear steaks wonderfully tender. So turn the tables on your wildlife and sink your teeth into a bear.
Bear on the Barbie
1 lb black bear steaks
2-3 T olive oil
2 tsp. steak seasoning (I like Montreal Steak)
Place steaks, oil and seasoning into a zip-lock bag, seal and marinate for a couple of hours, turning every once in a while.
When you are ready to eat, get your grill hot and cook the steaks until done, about 4 – 5 minutes per side depending on the thickness of the steaks. Serve with a baked potato and your favorite vegetable. You cal also substitute deer, elk, moose or any other wild game.
