I thought that I would try a simple recipe for my 1st time cooking a steak with a new pellet grill that I recently bought, I have been cooking on a kamodo style charcoal grill for the past couple of years and want to try cooking on a pellet grill . I like the flavor of smoke in the steak so I am planning on smoking the steak instead of grilling it.
Ingredients
2 NY Strip Steaks
Olive Oil
Grill Mates Montreal Steak Seasoning
Mesquite Pellets
Directions
Take the steaks out of the refrigerator at least 1 hour before you want to cook it and pat the steaks dry with a paper towel. Brush on a light coating of olive oil on top of the steaks. Sprinkle the steak with steak seasoning. Season to taste. I like the flavor of this season so I put it liberally on my steak but my wife likes her steak with just a touch of seasoning.
Set the temperature to 225 degrees during the cook. Smoke the NY strips for about 40 minutes and turned them over after 20 minutes. Remove the steaks from the grill and turn the heat up to high. I want to put I nice crust on the steak and finish the steak off at the higher temperature. It took about 10 minutes to heat up the grill. Place the steaks back on the grill and cooked them about 4 minutes on each side until the internal temperature of the steak is 130 degrees F (rare). Take the steak off the grill and let it rest for about minutes before serving. These steaks tasted great!
Wow, great post.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it.
