A delicious and sweet treat that performs a magic trick when you cook it!
Ingredients
3 cups water
2 cups brown sugar
4 T. butter
½ cup butter
1½ cup white sugar
1½ cup apple, pealed and grated
3 cup flour
1½ tsp. nutmeg
1 1.2 tsp. cinnamon
3¾ tsp. baking powder
¾ tsp. salt
2¾ tsp. baking soda
1½ cup milk
1½ tsp. vanilla
1½ cup raisins
¾ cup chopped nuts
Instructions
Mix first three ingredients, water, brown sugar, and 4 T. butter, in a sauce pan and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and set aside. In a mixer, cream white sugar with remaining butter until smooth, then add apples. In a separate bowl, combine dry ingredients. Slowly add dry and wet ingredients to the mixer, alternating between the two to avoid lumps.
Spread in the bottom of a 12-inch dutch oven (or a 9x13 if you're cooking inside). Pour the brown sugar sauce over the top. Bake at 375 for 45 minutes.
