Carmel Pudding Cake
A delicious and sweet treat that performs a magic trick when you cook it!
  • 3 cups water
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 4 T. butter
  • ½ cup butter
  • 1½ cup white sugar
  • 1½ cup apple, pealed and grated
  • 3 cup flour
  • 1½ tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 1.2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 3¾ tsp. baking powder
  • ¾ tsp. salt
  • 2¾ tsp. baking soda
  • 1½ cup milk
  • 1½ tsp. vanilla
  • 1½ cup raisins
  • ¾ cup chopped nuts
  1. Mix first three ingredients, water, brown sugar, and 4 T. butter, in a sauce pan and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and set aside. In a mixer, cream white sugar with remaining butter until smooth, then add apples. In a separate bowl, combine dry ingredients. Slowly add dry and wet ingredients to the mixer, alternating between the two to avoid lumps.
  2. Spread in the bottom of a 12-inch dutch oven (or a 9x13 if you're cooking inside). Pour the brown sugar sauce over the top. Bake at 375 for 45 minutes.
